The Galley
The Galley, a new café restaurant located at Sydney Boatshed in Rozelle, sought to establish a distinct identity that resonated with the surrounding community of Rozelle/Balmain. Tasked with creating a new brand, our goal was to capture the essence of the area and its people while reflecting the café’s unique waterfront location.
Our approach centered on developing a strong logotype inspired by the shape of an old galley, paying homage to the café’s nautical theme and maritime setting. The logotype served as the cornerstone of the brand identity, evoking a sense of history and maritime tradition. To further integrate the café with its surroundings, contour lines based on the harbour area were incorporated into the logo, adding depth and context to the design.
In addition to the logotype, we created a series of custom illustrations that showcased the café’s maritime charm. These illustrations were utilised as wallpaper and secondary assets across various assets, including web and print collateral.
To deepen the connection to the local community, heritage photography was sourced, celebrating the rich history of the iconic harbour and the surrounding suburb of Balmain, Rozelle, and Sydney city.
